
The Information Technology program at Battlefield High School is a rigorous and challenging course of study for academically and technology motivated students. The IT program offers opportunities for students to study a wide range of information technology programs covering three main areas: programming, networking, and interactive media. Programs leading to professional and general certifications are offered. These certificate programs include: Cisco, Oracle, Microsoft Certified Systems, Certified Internet Webmaster, IC3, A+, computer graphics, and multimedia.
In the areas of study noted above, the program offers Advanced Placement courses which can earn 3 college credits and have weighted high school credit; dual enrollment is available in specific course offerings which offers up to 9 college credits, and other courses offer weighted high school credit.
To participate in the program and receive a Standard IT Certificate upon graduation, students must be enrolled in at least one IT core class and must complete a sequence of 4(four) IT classes in grades nine through twelve. A GPA of 2.0 is required, and a minimum of a 2.0 is required for each IT course. In addition, a minimum of satisfactory behavior is mandatory.
To earn an Advanced IT Certificate upon graduation, students must complete 6 IT courses, and maintain a 3.0 GPA, and a minimum of a 3.0 is required for each IT course. Again, a minimum of satisfactory behavior is mandatory.
In addition to the IT Specialty Program courses, Battlefield High School offers an extensive Advanced Placement program.
Express transportation is provided. The IT program began in the fall of 2004 and now has approximately 350 students. Currently the IT program offers courses of study for grade levels 9-11; the 12th grade courses will be added in 2006.
